Welcome to Move Easy Physical Therapy, the private practice of Deena Levy, PT.
Deena Levy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of California San Francisco Medical School. She has also studied and worked extensively with Judith Aston and has been a certified Aston-Patterning® Practitioner since 1989.
In addition to her degree in Physical Therapy, Deena holds a Masters Degree in Dance from the University of Utah, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance from Ohio State University. Deena’s work and study of physical movement began early as a child and young adult, with ballet training in the Cecchetti method, and Graham based and Limon modern techniques.
Before starting her full time private practice, Deena was Senior Physical Therapist at Alameda Hospital for 14 years. She has served on the PT staffs of numerous Bay Area medical facilities, providing physical therapy for acute rehabilitation patients; for in-hospital patients in medical, orthopedic, post surgical, and ICU/CCU units; and for orthopedic and neurological out-patients.
Deena is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the International Association of Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS). She is a certified Pilates Mat instructor. She has taught classes in modern dance, aerobic dance and choreography, physio-ball dance conditioning, exercise for workplace well-being, and senior citizens dance and exercise. She has provided dance and performing arts medicine and physical therapy treatment to the Smuin Ballet; Jazz Camp West in Pescadero; Berkeley City Ballet; Walnut Creek’s Company C Contemporary Ballet; and St. Francis Sports/Dance Medicine Clinic in San Francisco.
Deena brings to her work a unique combination of medical study and practice with over 30 years experience with holistic bodywork, movement, and dance.
Deena opened Move Easy Physical Therapy so that she could work more completely with each patient. In her own practice she is able to focus more time and energy into full body treatment with a full hour session and continued work over time, rather than within a clinic visit.
Deena knows that chronic pain can be alleviated, recurrent problems can be corrected and the stress you carry in your body can be relaxed. As a physical therapist, Deena is dedicated to helping you move through life with ease, comfort and confidence.
