About Deena

Welcome to Move Easy Physical Therapy, the private practice of Deena Levy, PT.

As a physical therapist, Deena Levy is dedicated to helping you move through life with ease, comfort and confidence. Deena knows that chronic pain can be alleviated, recurrent problems can be corrected and the stress you carry in your body can be relaxed.

Deena brings to her work a unique combination of medical study and practice with over 30 years experience with holistic bodywork, movement and dance.

Deena began studying physical movement as a child and young adult. She earned a Masters Degree in Dance from the University of Utah, after completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance at Ohio State University.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from in the University of California San Francisco Medical School, and served on the P.T. staffs at various Bay Area medical facilities. She has provided physical therapy for acute rehabilitation patients; for in-hospital patients in medical, orthopedic, post surgical, and ICU/CCU units; and for orthopedic and neurological out-patients. Her last position before starting her full time private practice was as Senior Physical Therapist at Alameda Hospital.

During that time, she also studied Aston-Patterning®, training for three years under founder Judith Aston. Deena received her Aston-Patterning® Practitioner Certification in 1989.

In 1990, Deena began her private practice, Move Easy Physical Therapy.

Deena is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the International Association of Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS). She is a certified Pilates Mat instructor. She has taught classes in modern dance, aerobic dance and choreography, physio-ball dance conditioning, exercise for workplace well-being, and senior citizens dance and exercise. She has provided dance medicine treatment to the Smuin Ballet; Jazz Camp West in Pescadero; Berkeley City Ballet; Walnut Creek’s Company C Contemporary Ballet; and St. Francis Sports/Dance Medicine Clinic in San Francisco.
